compound complex sentence คือประโยคความรวมความซ้อน คำว่าความรวมความซ้อน ดูเหมือนจะซับซ้อนนะ แต่ถ้าทุกคนเคยเรียนรู้ compound และ complex มาแล้วจะง่ายขึ้นเยอะเลย
compound-complex sentence คืออะไร
- compound แปลว่า รวม, ประสม, ผสม
- complex แปลว่า ซับซ้อน, สลับซับซ้อน
- sentence แปลว่า ประโยค
compound-complex sentence ถ้าแปลตามตัว จะแปลว่า ประโยครวมซับซ้อน
แต่ในหลักไวยากรณ์เราเรียกกันว่า “ประโยคความรวมความซ้อน”
Compound-Complex Sentence จะมีองค์ประกอบดังนี้…
- independent clause = 2 ประโยค
- dependent clause = 1 ประโยคขึ้นไปมาซ้อนในประโยค
ดูๆแล้ว คล้ายกับ compound sentence เลยนะครับ แค่มี dependent clause มาแทรกแค่นั้นเอง

ก่อนอื่นมาพิจารณาดูตัวอย่างประโยคต่อไปนี้นะครับ
(1) Jo drinks Singha, and I also drink Singha, although it is expensive.
โจดื่มสิงห์ และฉันดื่มสิงห์ด้วย แม้ว่ามันราคาแพง
(2) Jo drinks Singha, but I drink Leo because it is cheaper.
โจดื่มสิงห์ แต่ฉันดื่มลีโอ เพราะว่ามันราคาถูกกว่า
ตัวอย่างที่ 1 มี 2 independent clause ( Jo drinks, I drink) โดยมี andเป็นคำเชื่อม และมี dependent clause (although it is) มาแทรกในประโยค
ตัวอย่างที่ 2 มี 2 independent clause คล้ายตัวอย่าง 1 โดยมี but เป็นคำเชื่อม และมี dependent clause (because it is) มาแทรกในประโยค
ตัวอย่างประโยค
ให้จดจำไว้ว่า Compound-complex sentence ก็คือ Compound sentence นั่นแหละ แต่มี dependent clause มาแทรก แค่นั้นเอง
- I like cats, and Sam also likes cats because they are lovely.
ฉันชอบแมว และแซมชอบก็ชอบแมวด้วย เพราะว่าพวกมันน่ารัก
- You can watch TV now, or you can watch it after you finish your homework.
เธอจะดูทีวีตอนนี้ หรือเธอจะดูหลังทำการบ้านเสร็จก็ได้
- I missed the bus because I got up late, so I rode a bike to school
ฉันตกรถบัสเพราะว่าฉันตื่นสาย ดังนั้นฉันจึงขี่่จักรยานไปโรงเรียน
- I do homework after I take a bath, but Tom does it before he takes a bath.
ฉันทำการบ้านหลังจากฉันอาบน้ำ แต่ทอมทำการบ้านก่อนเขาอาบน้ำ
- I don’t care who you are, and I don’t care where you’re from.
